Stamped & Decorative Concrete
Stamped & Decorative Concrete from a crew that shows up
Plenty of homeowners want the look of flagstone, slate or brick around the house without laying it piece by piece or pulling weeds out of paver joints every summer. Others have a plain gray patio and wish it matched the brick on the house. Stamped concrete solves both. It is one solid slab, colored and pressed with a texture while it is still workable, so you get the look of stone with far fewer joints for weeds, ants and settling. Done well, it is hard to tell from the real thing at a glance.
Decorative work is a big part of what we pour. Our recent jobs include stamped patios beside brick homes in ashlar slate, tan stone and gray-blue tones, a stamped walkway that ends in an octagon, and a stamped walkway running along a brick wall. We help you choose the pattern, base color and accent color, add borders and bands where they make sense, and seal the finished surface so the color stays rich. We also pour exposed aggregate finishes for driveways and walks.

Questions
Stamped & Decorative Concrete FAQs
Does stamped concrete hold up to Middle Tennessee winters?
Yes, when it is built and sealed right. Freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salt are hard on any concrete, so we start with a compacted base, slope the slab to drain and seal it so water does not soak in and freeze. Resealing every few years and keeping rock salt off it are the two best things you can do.
Does stamped concrete cost more than plain concrete?
Yes. Stamping takes more labor, color, sealer and a bigger crew on pour day, so it costs more than a broom-finish slab. It usually comes in under laying natural stone or pavers over the same area, and a stamped border around a plain slab gets you much of the look for less. We can price it both ways on your free quote.
How long does a stamped concrete job take?
Most stamped patios and walkways go from dig-out to pour in a few days, and we come back to wash and seal once the slab has cured. In hot, humid summer weather we start pours early in the day because stamped concrete sets fast in the heat. If your HOA has to approve the pattern or color, we help you get that done before the pour date.
Can you stamp concrete we already have?
Not by stamping it, since the texture is pressed in while the concrete is fresh. A sound older slab can take a stamped overlay, and a cracked or settled one is better torn out and poured new. We tell you which makes sense after we look at the slab.
Will stamped concrete crack?
Any concrete can crack, so we place control joints within the pattern, often along the grout lines where they disappear. A good base and proper drainage keep the slab from moving in the first place. Color that runs all the way through the mix also makes a hairline crack much less noticeable.
