Concrete Curbing

Concrete Curbing from a crew that shows up

Plastic and metal edging heaves, shifts and gets chewed up by the mower, and loose stones never stay in line. Homeowners around Spring Hill and Franklin want flower beds and tree rings with a clean, permanent edge, and some need more than that: a curb along the driveway so tires stop rutting the lawn, a curb and gutter run to carry water down a private road, or a broken street curb replaced after a new driveway goes in. Poured concrete curbing handles all of it.

We pour curbing in place, so it follows your beds and drives in one continuous line with no loose pieces to shift. For landscape edging we run a smooth extruded curb, plain, colored or stamped, along beds, trees and walkways. For driveways, parking areas and private roads we form and pour heavier curbs and curb and gutter that stand up to tires and runoff. Our job photos include a poured curb wall formed on site. We grade first so every curb sends water the right way.

Questions

Concrete Curbing FAQs

Will concrete curbing crack or heave in our clay soil?

It can get hairline cracks like any concrete, which is why we cut control joints along the run so it cracks neatly at the joints. Clay that swells and shrinks moves a heavy, continuous concrete curb far less than it moves plastic or metal edging. We set the curb on firm, compacted soil and grade beside it so water does not pond against it and freeze.

How is concrete curbing priced?

Mostly by length, then by profile, color, stamping and how much prep the site needs. A long plain landscape curb costs less per foot than a short colored and stamped run with tight curves, and curb and gutter costs more than landscape edging because it is larger and reinforced. We measure on site and give you a written quote for free.

Do I need a permit to replace the curb at my driveway?

Usually yes. The street curb is in the public right-of-way, so Spring Hill, Franklin, Columbia and the counties generally want a permit and may inspect the work. Landscape curbing in your own yard normally does not need one, though some HOAs want to approve the color. We handle the paperwork either way.

How long does landscape curbing take to install?

Most residential landscape curbing is laid out and poured in a single day. You can walk on it soon after, and we tell you when it is safe to run the mower and trimmer along it. Driveway curbs and curb and gutter take longer because they are formed and reinforced.

Can curbing go around existing trees and beds?

Yes. Because it is poured in place, curbing follows any curve, so it can trace existing beds, wrap tree rings and tie into walkways. We stay clear of major roots and keep the curb shallow near trees so they are not damaged.
