Concrete Patios

Concrete Patios from a crew that shows up

A lot of homes around Spring Hill and Franklin come with a back door, a small stoop and a yard that turns to mud every spring. Homeowners want a place for a grill, a table and a few chairs without sinking into the grass, or they want to replace an old patio that has cracked, settled toward the house or started holding puddles. A good patio is the right size for the way you use it, sits at the right height below the back door and sheds water away from your foundation.

We build concrete patios from the dirt up. We grade the yard, compact a stone base, form the shape you want, square or curved, and pour with steel. Most patios get a broom or smooth finish, and if you want a pattern or color we do that too. Our recent patios sit beside brick homes, several of them stamped in slate and stone patterns. Because we also pour steps, footings and walls, one licensed and insured crew can tie the whole backyard together without you juggling trades.

What's included

Our concrete patios services

  • 01

    New backyard patios

Patios sized for a dining table, a grill station, a seating area or all three, laid out with you on site before we dig.

  • 02

    Patio extensions

More room on a small existing patio. We pin the new concrete to the old slab so the two stay level and the joint stays tight.

  • 03

    Tear-out and replacement

Cracked, sunken or tilted patios come out and get hauled away, and the new one goes in on a corrected base.

  • 04

    Grading and drainage

Every patio slopes away from the house, and we fix low spots nearby so heavy spring rain does not run back toward the foundation.

  • 05

    Steps and landings

Steps down from a back door or deck, built to a comfortable rise and poured to meet the patio cleanly.

  • 06

    Footings for covers and pergolas

If a roof, pergola or screened porch is in the plan, we pour post footings now so nobody cuts into a new patio later.

Questions

Concrete Patios FAQs

Why do backyard patios settle toward the house?

Usually because the soil next to the foundation was backfilled loose when the house was built and the patio went right on top of it. Middle Tennessee clay also swells in wet springs and shrinks in dry summers, so an unprepared slab moves. We dig out soft fill, compact a stone base and slope the patio away from the house so rain runs into the yard instead of against your foundation.

What does a concrete patio cost?

It depends on size, shape, how much grading the yard needs, truck access and the finish. A square broom-finish patio near the driveway costs less than a curved patio behind the house with steps and a stamped border. We give you a written quote on site for free, and customers mention that our pricing was fair.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval for a patio?

A ground-level patio often does not need a city permit, but many subdivisions around Spring Hill, Franklin and Thompson's Station require HOA approval first, and covered patios usually do need a permit. We tell you what applies at your address and help you put together what the HOA asks for. Once you are approved, we get you on the schedule.

Plain concrete or stamped?

Plain broom or smooth finish is the most practical choice and the easiest to keep up. Stamped concrete costs more and needs resealing now and then, but it gives you the look of stone or slate. Some homeowners split the difference with a plain field and a stamped border, and we pour all three.

How big should our patio be?

Bigger than most people first think. A table with the chairs pulled out needs room to walk around it, and a grill needs space away from the siding. We mark the outline on the ground so you can set your furniture inside it before we pour.
