Concrete Foundations

Concrete Foundations from a crew that shows up

A new home, addition or shop is only as straight and dry as the foundation under it. You want floors that stay level, walls that do not crack and water that stays outside. In Middle Tennessee that takes some planning. Clay soil moves with the seasons, limestone sits close to the surface on a lot of lots, heavy spring rain finds every low spot, and hillside lots around Franklin and Spring Hill often need a foundation that steps with the grade. The right foundation type comes down to your lot, your plans and how you will use the space.

We build concrete foundations from the dirt up with our own crew: excavation, footings, forms, steel, walls or slab, and the pour. That covers monolithic slabs for garages and shops, footing and stem wall foundations for crawl spaces, and full poured basement walls. Our job photos show this kind of work, with footings dug by excavator and formed on site, a poured stem wall, and big slabs bull-floated and finished by our crew. We have twenty-plus years in concrete, we are licensed and insured, and the estimate is free.

What's included

Our concrete foundations services

  • 01

    Slab-on-grade foundations

Monolithic and thickened-edge slabs for homes, garages, shops and barns, on a compacted gravel base with a vapor barrier underneath.

Poured footings with a concrete or block stem wall on top, with openings for vents and access, for homes on sloped or uneven lots.

  • 03

Foundations for room additions, sunrooms and garage additions, tied into the existing house and matched to its floor height.

  • 05

    Shop, garage and barn foundations

Foundations and slabs for detached garages, workshops and pole barns, with anchor bolts set where the framing goes.

  • 06

    Stepped and hillside foundations

On sloped lots we step the footings and walls with the grade, which often sets up a walk-out on the low side.

How it works

How a foundation job works

  1. 1

    Free on-site quote

We walk the lot, go over your plans, and talk through soil, slope, drainage and foundation type. Customers mention how quick and prompt our estimates are.

  2. 2

    Permit, layout and dig

We help line up the permit, lay out the foundation from the plans and excavate down to firm bearing soil.

  3. 3

    Footings, walls and inspections

We pour the footings, then form and pour the walls or prep the slab with gravel, vapor barrier and steel. Each stage is inspected before the next.

  4. 4

    Pour, finish and backfill

We pour and finish the slab or strip the wall forms, set drain pipe, then backfill and grade so water runs away from the building.

Questions

Concrete Foundations FAQs

What foundation type works best on Middle Tennessee clay?

There is no single answer, but every good foundation here bears on firm soil, moves water away and is reinforced for clay that swells and shrinks. Slabs suit flat, well-drained lots, crawl spaces and basements suit sloped lots, and limestone close to the surface can rule out a full basement on some lots. We look at your lot and plans before we recommend one.

How much does a new concrete foundation cost?

It comes down to the foundation type, its size, how deep we dig, the wall height and steel the plans call for, and whether we hit rock. Site access and drainage work play in too. We give a free quote after walking the lot so you get a real number for your project, not a rough guess.

How long does a foundation take, and who handles the permit?

A slab foundation moves faster than a basement because there are fewer stages to pour and inspect, and weather and inspection dates set the pace in between. We help with the permit and line up each inspection. Customers mention how responsive we are through permits and scheduling, and that we finish on time.

Do you repair foundations too?

Yes, but that is a different job. This page covers new foundations. For cracks, settling and sinking, see our foundation repair service, where we handle piers, crack repair and settlement.

Can you work with my builder or my own plans?

Yes. We pour foundations for homeowners acting as their own general contractor and for builders who need the foundation in on schedule. Bring the plans and we build to them.
