Concrete Slabs · Thompson's Station

Concrete Slabs for Thompson's Station properties

Thompson's Station homeowners call us for shop, barn, garage and monolithic slabs, formed and finished. We're a licensed, insured crew with twenty-plus years of experience, and every Thompson's Station job starts with a free quote.

A lot of the homes here are newer, and many backyards were left as bare clay by the builder, so the work is often a first patio, a driveway extension, steps off the back or a pad for a shed or hot tub. Backfill around newer foundations settles, so compaction under the slab matters.

A Spring Hill customer wrote about their backyard patio: “Back yard patio. Not easy to access but he did the job well. Clean up was done immediately. I will recommend him, for sure. He answered all my questions and the job was done the next day, as promised.”

Williamson County

Concrete Slabs around Thompson's Station

We work all over Thompson's Station — near FirstBank Amphitheater, Chambers Hill and Bear Creek — and throughout Williamson County.

Thompson's Station sits between Spring Hill and Franklin along Columbia Pike, a mix of open farmland and newer subdivisions. Thompson's Station is about 5 miles north of Spring Hill, well inside our 30-mile service area.

Concrete in Middle Tennessee has to handle clay soil that swells when it's wet and shrinks in a dry August, limestone that's often only a few feet down, freeze-thaw winter nights and heavy spring rain. A slab holds up when it sits on a compacted stone base, has steel where it needs it, sheds water away from the house and has joints cut where cracks are meant to go.

Questions

Concrete Slabs in Thompson's Station: FAQs

Do you do concrete slabs in Thompson's Station, TN?

Yes. Thompson's Station is about 5 miles north of Spring Hill, well inside our 30-mile service area. We handle shop, barn, garage and monolithic slabs, formed and finished there, and the quote is free.

Do I need a permit for concrete slabs in Thompson's Station?

It depends on the project. When one is needed, we pull the permit from the Town of Thompson's Station's building department and build to whatever the permit and inspection require.

What is a monolithic slab?

A monolithic slab is a floor and its perimeter footing poured at the same time as one piece. It is faster than pouring footings and the floor separately, and it works well for garages, shops and many outbuildings. For sloped lots, taller walls or heavy loads, we may recommend separate footings or a stem wall instead.

Can you have the slab ready for my building kit or framer?

Yes. Send us your plans or the kit supplier's foundation drawing and we set the slab size, anchor bolt layout and any thickened areas to match. A slab that is square and level makes every wall and door that sits on it go in easier.

How do you handle clay and rock when pouring a slab here?

We plan for both. Middle Tennessee clay swells and shrinks with moisture, so we strip soft soil, build up a compacted stone base and dig footings down to firm ground. Limestone often sits close to the surface here, and when we hit it we work around or through it instead of pouring over a thin layer of loose fill on top of rock.

How much does a concrete slab cost?

It comes down to size, site prep, footing depth, reinforcement and finish. A slab on a flat lot that is ready to go costs less than one on a slope that needs fill, rock work or a stepped footing. We price each slab from a site visit and put the quote in writing at no charge.
